Dryer Will Not Start
- Door not closed properly: Close the dryer door firmly until it latches. Check that clothing is not trapped in the door opening.
- Control Lock enabled: Disable Control Lock using the button combination shown on the control panel or in the model-specific manual.
- Delayed start selected: Check whether a delayed start timer has been programmed before assuming the dryer is not operating.
- No power supply: Check the power cord, outlet, household circuit breaker, and electrical supply.
- Gas dryer supply issue: Confirm the gas shutoff valve is open and the gas supply is available.
Dryer Runs but Does Not Heat
- Electric dryer breaker problem: Most electric dryers require a 240V supply. Both sides of the double-pole breaker must be on.
- Gas supply issue: Confirm the gas valve is open and that other gas appliances are working normally.
- Airflow restriction: A blocked vent can cause overheating protection to activate and reduce or stop heating.
- Incorrect cycle: Some air-dry, cool-down, wrinkle-care, and low-temperature cycles may not feel as hot as normal drying cycles.
- Heating component fault: A thermal fuse, thermostat, igniter, heating element, or control board may require professional diagnosis.
Drying Takes Too Long
- Lint filter blocked: Clean the lint filter before every load and remove visible lint from the filter housing area.
- Vent duct restricted: Check the exhaust hose and outside vent flap for crushing, lint buildup, bird nests, snow, or other blockage.
- Load too large: Reduce load size and separate heavy towels, bedding, jeans, and lightweight clothing.
- Moisture sensor dirty: Wipe the metal moisture sensor bars inside the drum with a soft cloth and mild cleaner.
- Room temperature too low: Heat pump and ventless dryers may take longer in cold laundry rooms or enclosed spaces.
LG Flow Sense™ & Airflow Warnings
- Flow Sense™ indicator appears: The exhaust duct may be restricted. Clean the lint filter and inspect the entire vent path to the outside.
- Outside vent flap not opening: Remove lint, debris, ice, or nests that may prevent proper exhaust airflow.
- Flexible duct crushed: Straighten or replace crushed, excessively long, or poorly routed ducting.
- Frequent airflow alerts: Have the complete household vent system professionally cleaned if warnings continue after basic inspection.
Common LG Dryer Error Code Symptoms
- dE / dE1 / dE2: Door error – close the door firmly and inspect the latch area for clothing or debris.
- tE / tE1 / tE2: Temperature sensor issue – clean lint buildup and allow the dryer to cool before restarting.
- nP: Electric dryer may not be receiving full 240V power. Check the double-pole breaker and power connection.
- PS: Power supply issue – check wiring, outlet voltage, and electrical connection.
- HS: Humidity sensor issue – clean the moisture sensor bars inside the drum.
- F:xx: System or control-related issue – power the dryer off for several minutes and consult the model-specific manual if the code returns.
Heat Pump & Ventless Dryer Problems
- Drying takes longer than expected: Heat pump dryers use lower temperatures and may need more time than conventional vented dryers.
- Water tank full: Empty the condensate water container if your dryer is not connected directly to a drain.
- Condenser filter needs cleaning: Clean the lower filter, condenser area, and lint filters according to the maintenance schedule in the manual.
- Room feels humid: Check that filters and condenser components are clean and that the appliance has adequate room ventilation.
Steam, Wrinkle Care & ThinQ® Features
- Steam cycle not producing steam: Confirm the water supply is connected where required and select a compatible steam program.
- Wrinkles remain: Do not overload the drum and remove garments promptly when the cycle ends.
- LG ThinQ® not connecting: Confirm that the home network uses a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band and follow the model-specific pairing procedure.
- Remote Start unavailable: Remote Start must be enabled on the dryer before the appliance can be controlled through the app.
Noise, Vibration & Maintenance Tips
- Thumping sound: May occur when bulky laundry is tumbling. Pause the cycle and redistribute the load if needed.
- Rattling: Check pockets for coins, zippers, keys, or loose objects. Make sure the dryer is not touching the wall or washer.
- Vibration: Level all dryer feet and make sure the appliance is installed on a firm, even floor.
- Odor inside dryer: Clean the lint filter, drum, and vent system. Avoid leaving damp laundry inside after the cycle ends.
- Lint buildup: Clean the lint filter after every cycle and inspect the vent duct regularly.
Safety note: Always disconnect electrical power before cleaning internal areas, checking the vent, replacing parts, or servicing the appliance. For gas dryers, also close the gas supply valve before service. Do not operate the dryer with a damaged power cord, blocked vent, or defective door switch.
